Teijin Frontier has developed a new multi-functional textile for sports and outdoor clothing that offers improved comfort and cooling performance. The fabric combines a dry feel on the skin with several cooling functions, including heat protection and ultraviolet (UV) blocking, along with visual benefits such as reduced transparency and less visible sweat marks.
The Tokyo-based company used its advanced spinning technology for core-sheath conjugate yarns along with its own fibre processing methods. This allowed Teijin Frontier to create high-crimp, false-twist textured yarns with a core-sheath structure. These full-dull yarns limit light passage, block UV rays and heat, and provide a soft touch.
These specially developed yarns are used in the outer surface of the fabric, which has a unique layered structure. The inner layer combines water-repellent and water-absorbing polyester yarns. This design quickly absorbs sweat and moves it to the outer layer while stopping moisture from moving back toward the skin, helping to maintain comfort over time.
The new textile is produced without the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), supporting safer and more environmentally conscious material choices.
