South Korea’s vertically integrated textile manufacturer, Taekwang Industry, has taken a significant step toward sustainability with the introduction of its eco-friendly nylon yarn, ACECOOL-BIO.
In a recent announcement, the company shared that ACECOOL-BIO is the first plant-based nylon yarn produced domestically. This innovation is designed to address the challenges associated with synthetic fibres, offering improved breathability and moisture absorption.
With ACECOOL-BIO, Taekwang aims to meet the rising demand for cool-touch textiles. The company also reported that manufacturing this yarn results in less than half the carbon emissions compared to conventional cool-touch nylon fibres, making it a more environmentally friendly choice.
In addition to being sustainable, the new yarn is said to perform exceptionally well in dyeing processes. It enhances colour vibrancy and reduces dyeing time, offering both environmental and operational benefits.
Targeted for use in sportswear, innerwear, and lightweight summer workwear, ACECOOL-BIO supports the fashion industry’s growing focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices.
