Pakistan's largest vertically integrated denim manufacturer, Soorty, has developed a new stonewashing method—ZERO STONE, that provides vintage-inspired wash effects without the use of pumice stones, which have long been thought to be environmentally harmful.
Soorty has spent years investing in breakthrough technologies and developing environmentally and socially aware denim laundry systems that assist reduce water, chemical, and energy consumption. It lays a high emphasis on environmental conservation, human value, and devotion to the health and safety of its employees. Soorty provides a wide range of sustainable washes, ranging from typical vintage washes to new and innovative fashion trends with a focus on sustainability.
ZERO STONE is the newest pillar of Soorty's Smart Laundry system, and it aids in achieving the stonewash look in denim items without the use of traditional pumice stones. This novel technology enables the conservation of resources such as water, energy, and chemicals.
Traditional stonewashing involves combining pumice stones and denim clothes in an industrial washing machine, where the garments are pounded and battered repeatedly in a tumbler. On a freshly created garment, this gives jeans a vintage and worn look.
ZERO STONE replicated the appearance of traditionally manufactured garments while using less water and implementing a positive effluent discharge rather than dangerous chemical emissions. The breakthrough transforms sustainable clothing manufacturing at scale while reducing the usage of natural resources.
Enchanted wash effects can be generated with this technology even at a 1:1 liquor ratio. ZERO STONE uses 43% less water, 18% less energy, 19% less chemical, and 5% less labor impact per garment than traditional stone washing. This means that a significant amount of water, chemicals, and stones are no longer used in the typical stonewashing procedure.
Denim laundries have a significant influence on water pollution and natural resource degradation. Soorty is dedicated to large-scale sustainable garment production for denim clothes that look and feel fashionable while conserving our planet's resources. Soorty considers themselves to be engineers first and foremost, with a desire to be restorative in nature. Innovation is radical responsibility, and we are sculpting our future with this awareness every day, step by step. Soorty is on a mission to become the world's most responsible denim manufacturer on a large scale.
