Swiss textile chemicals company Sanitized and Germany’s Rudolf have introduced new finishing technologies aimed at improving textile durability by addressing persistent odours and declining weather protection.
Sanitized’s Odorex EON is a biocide-free treatment designed to manage odour build-up in performance apparel, while Rudolf’s Ruco-Dry Eco CWS is a water-repellent finish developed to improve resistance to rain and moisture, particularly in cotton fabrics. Sanitized Odorex EON uses a dual-action approach to tackle the accumulation of body oils and odour-causing residues, sometimes associated with the persistent odour problem known as “permastink” in synthetic garments.
During wear, the treatment adsorbs and neutralises odour molecules, while also forming a protective layer intended to help release sebum residues during laundering. Unlike antimicrobial finishes that control odours by inhibiting bacterial growth, the technology is biocide-free and focuses on managing odour molecules and residues. It was officially launched at Performance Days in Munich on October 13–14, 2026.
Meanwhile, Rudolf’s Ruco-Dry Eco CWS combines water repellency with high hydrostatic pressure resistance in cotton fabrics. It is intended for outdoor clothing and technical textile applications, including tents, awnings and umbrellas, and can also be marketed under the company’s Bionic-Finish Eco brand.
