Sandler opens its fifth new textile production line at Schwarzenbach

Sandler, a German nonwovens and functional material manufacturer officially had grand opening of its fifth new production building and nonwoven line investing total 43 million euros to continue organic growth at its Schwarzenbach an der Saale headquarters. The Plant 5 will see an expansion of the company’s role in the technical textiles sector.

The new 10,500sqm of warehousing space is set to be used for finished roll goods, with an additional 2,600sqm of commissioning and loading area, as well as office space.

The new production and warehouse building “Plant 5” was completed, having taken only a little over a year’s time to be built. While the building itself was still under construction, assembling of the new production line started in December 2015.

Sandler’s president and CEO Christian Heinrich Sandler said that the strong momentum in their sales markets surpassed the forecasts of their strategic planning. When Plant 4 was commissioned in 2011, they assumed that it would be 8 to 10 years at least before they were to start the construction of another building.

They succeeded in tapping into new, interesting areas of application and in introducing new products to the market. This development required a new production line, a new building for it to be placed in, and additional warehousing space for its finished goods. This €43 million investment creates 40 new qualified jobs in Schwarzenbach.

At the same time as Plant 5 took shape, Sandler also constructed a new, four-storey administration building in Schwarzenbach. Sandler’s own materials have in fact been used as sound absorbers in the acoustic partitions of the building.

On occasion of the inauguration, Sandler’s new image trailer premiered, allowing the guests a first look at the new production line and the products that are to be manufactured on it.

Sandler is not only characterized by entrepreneurial achievements, but also by its strong ties to its home region.
