Recycling
A highly successful textile diversion program returns to Timmins starting next week. The project aids in recycling rewards and raises money for the children’s Wish foundation.
Christian Beaton, Timmins environmental coordinator, explains the functionality of the program. She said that whoever is interested and eligible for the program can put their textiles into as many bags as they want. She continues to explain that the bags should be placed at the curbside before 7 am and the day of the pick up the recycling rewards would drop by to collect them.
Beaton also proves interested in stating that they had a great debut to the program.
She stated how the last collection successfully diverted 28 tons of textiles from being dumped into landfills. She further states that the program is excited to see how the second one goes.
Timmins and Temiskaming Shores are the only two parties who are a part of this program organized by recycling rewards however, they look forward to adding more.
