Radianza™ fiber receives bluesign® approval

Radianza™ fiber, Thai Acrylic Fibre Company’s (Aditya Birla Group) flagship acrylic fiber brand, is officially “bluesign® APPROVED,” making it the first and only acrylic fiber to receive this certification.

Radianza™ is now the only acrylic fiber with Higgs MSI scores, a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) research, and a digital tracking and tracing facility, thanks to this bluesign® APPROVED accreditation.

Radianza™’s exceptional sustainability performance is largely due to its gel-dyeing technology. Water pollution and consumption are two of the most serious environmental issues facing the fashion industry, and conventional dyeing processes contribute immensely to these two problems. In gel-dyeing, the dye is absorbed in the fiber in about 4-5 seconds, with almost no unused dye discharge and low water demand. When Radianza™ fiber is used instead of conventional acrylic fiber and procedures, the LCA analysis and MSI scores reveal a considerable reduction in environmental impact.

The organization behind the certification, Bluesign Technologies ag, confirms that bluesign® APPROVED items are manufactured in a resource-conserving manner with minimal impact on people and the environment.

Thomas Varghese, Business Head – Textiles – Aditya Birla Group, said that they’re extremely pleased to have received bluesign® APPROVED accreditation for Radianza™ fiber. It provides their direct and downstream customers with even more confidence in the sustainability index of their Radianza™-based goods. It also demonstrates their commitment to not only develop more and more sustainable products for the industry, but also the lengths to which they will go to ensure that their customers can confidently claim that their products have a lower environmental impact.
