Purnam to organize exhibition titled Rakhi with focus on Indian handloom

With its ninth year this season, Purnam, a community organization will present its summer festive exhibition titled Rakhi – The Thread of Love – on July 22 with an emphasis on Indian handlooms at hotel The Ashok in New Delhi.

Indu Gupta, co-founder, Purnam, said that the exhibition this year is also bringing to the fore Indian handloom.

Designer Neeta Bhargava will be bringing humanity back to nature with a collection made of fabrics such as khadi, cotton, bamboo, banana and soybean. Roliana brand, on the other hand, will be bringing an exquisite range of Benarasi handloom saris and fabrics.

Gupta, Jani Dhingra, Saroj Bhatia and Sarita Baluja met in 2006 and started Purnam, conceptualised to help budding exhibitors widen their horizons while simultaneously promoting social consciousness.

The organization has been putting together exhibitions that provide a platform to a mix of exhibitors – designers and brands that drive lifestyle trends along with artisans who may not have an organized means to sell and opens them to an unlimited number of buyers they would not meet otherwise.

At Purnam, they put together lifestyle exhibitions that are a kaleidoscope of creative talent from all over the country – be it a known label from the metros or an artisan from a small city.

Purnam has held exhibitions in Chandigarh, Jalandhar and Ludhiana too. At any given exhibition, they have at least 80 to 90 exhibitors. They are taking things as they come and are looking forward to connecting with more partners in different cities in India.
