Puma unveils first vegan leather football boot

German sports company, Puma, has launched its first-ever PUMA KING football boot made entirely from animal-free materials. The forward-thinking, future-conscious new boot keeps the KING signature style, touch and comfort, but adds a unique new twist to the football legend.

The KING Platinum 21 Vegan is developed for modern playmakers who are looking for animal-free items, with a heritage and legacy spanning over half a century. Control is becoming increasingly important as football becomes faster and faster, thus the re-engineered KING takes its iconic design and pushes your game to the next level.

Puma continues to strive for more sustainable and eco-friendly products, including super-soft 100% Vegan leather and 100% Vegan knitted yarns for exceptional fit and comfort. The KING Platinum 21 Vegan has KINGForm technology, which consists of a rib structure fused to the Vegan leather upper in critical contact areas to provide greater touch and responsiveness.

A superlight PEBA soleplate is formed around a stable spine to give excellent grip and support for dynamic movements without using any animal-based adhesives, and all prints on the boot are made with Vegan pigments.

The KING Vegan features a brand-new, particularly designed KomfortSystem for next-level comfort, with ultra-soft anatomical cushioning for heel lockdown and an optimal fit. The KING Platinum 21 Vegan also has a moulded sock lining with NanoGrip technology for greater energy transmission, cushioning, and anti-slip properties, as well as multi-directional conical studs for enhanced agility.

Florian Nemetz, Senior Product Line Manager Teamsport Footwear, said that using Vegan-friendly materials and offering an alternative to animal-based leather products, the KING Platinum 21 Vegan is a fantastic milestone for Puma. As an alternative to traditional leather items, we will continue to incorporate Vegan materials in future projects. The boot retains all of the KING’s core benefits and performance characteristics but features a new Vegan upper material that gives outstanding touch attributes, comfort, and the PUMA KING’s signature style.
