PrettyLittleThing launches fast fashion resale MarketPlace app

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-09-01 06:42:56 – United Kingdom

PrettyLittleThing (PLT), part of the Boohoo Group, has officially made its resale MarketPlace app available to clients in the UK, to allow its community to buy and sell pre-loved pieces.

PLT's creative director, Molly-Mae Hague, said that it will be an app where girls can sell their PLT items and pretty much anything pre-owned, according to Hague. People won't anticipate this from us, so it's a significant step for them and something they believe will shake up the fashion business.

The MarketPlace is a component of PLT's aims to increase the lifespan of "pieces from the largest and finest brands" in addition to its own clothing. PLT also wants to reduce waste and inspire its audience to emphasize "The 3 R's" — reselling, re-wearing, and reusing. PLT continues by saying that it also anticipates the app making fashion "more accessible and diversified."

By making it simple for users to post their old PLT clothing directly into the selling site, the app hopes to attract more users to the "PLTloved movement" and streamline the resale process. Women's, men's, accessory, beauty, and homeware listings are all accessible, and PLT is giving 0% seller costs for the first three months.

Hague said that she would utilize the marketplace first and that she would sell her used clothing as a "top seller" with all earnings going to charity.

PLT existing account sync, PLT and non-PLT listings, wish lists, message center, picture recognition and text filtering, verified users, and PayPal connection are just a few of the features available in the platform's first phase.

While Phase 2 of the app will enable users to purchase using PLT store credit, subscribe to a service, post reviews for vendors, and receive transactional push alerts.

PLT's marketing director, Nicki Capstick, said that they know now more than ever that their customers are more conscious of how they shop, so they wanted to be the first fashion brand to launch a re-sale site with the ability to integrate the customers' previous PLT purchases into their wardrobe as well as creating new listings and selling items from other brands. They encourage their clients to recycle and resale used clothing in order to profit from the sale.

Capstick added that their in-house development team created MarketPlace by taking into account their clients' need for best-in-class features that make it simple for them to list things. Prior to launch, they continuously conducted internal testing with more than 200 staff members, who also shared their personal experiences utilizing the purchasing and selling capabilities. The response they've had so far has been fantastic, and they're pleased to roll out phase 2 innovations and debut the app throughout the United States in the coming months.
