YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2020-07-15 13:00:15 – USA

Precision Textiles, a company that supplies coated fabrics, nonwovens and laminations for bedding, automotive, healthcare and home furnishing industries has sold over 10 million yards of their newly launched medical gown series textile line. The volume of this textile produced is sufficient to make 5 million hospital gowns. Precision Textiles have set these goals in order to meet the growing demands for domestically produced medical gowns to support the healthcare sector combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company fine-tuned its operations in early April to manufacture medical grade fabrics for utilization in hospital gowns. This proved to be a vital piece of personal protective equipment (PPE) across the U.S as they had reached capacity with patients. As their headquarters is situated in New Jersey, the materials procured to manufacture these gowns are locally produced and replace imported fabrics which have a longer lead time.

Scott Tesser, the CEO of Precision Textiles claims that the new business segment has proven to grow rapidly over the last few months. He further states that before the pandemic this product line was a small portion of their business however, at this stage they are running at full capacity to meet the increasing demand for domestic supply.

The materials were sent to the City of New York, Massachusetts and North Carolina to ensure that the government entities could distribute PPE across major healthcare systems in the United States.

The fabric produced by the company is suitable to produce Level 1 through 4 one time use and multi-use medical gowns ranging from low to high-risk environments. Polyester fibers, polypropylene fibers and Trilaminate fabrics are some of the materials used to produce a variety of these textiles. A few of these textiles also comprise features such as washable and waterproof.

The company is looking forward to expanding the current capacity of production by acquiring new equipment and additional staff that can aid an increase in speed and efficiency of production to meet the growing demand.
