Paradise Textiles, Kintra Fibers launch bio-synthetic material garment

Paradise Textiles, the innovation division of Alpine Group, has collaborated with Kintra Fibers, a leader in bio-based fibers, to produce the first garment made from Kintra’s bio-synthetic material. This prototype, a lightweight jacket, is a significant step towards making Kintra’s sustainable fiber commercially viable and a promising alternative to traditional polyester.

This advancement follows a successful pilot in 2023, where Paradise Textiles and Kintra tested fabrics created from Kintra’s distinctive yarns. “At Paradise, we focus on fiber innovations that reduce carbon impact and provide practical alternatives to fossil-fuel-based synthetics,” said Lewis Shuler, Head of Innovation at Paradise Textiles. “Kintra fits our vision, offering advantages in both impact and performance. We look forward to expanding our work with Kintra to develop a diverse range of textiles.”

Kintra’s unique resin, made from bio-based materials, is compatible with standard polyester manufacturing equipment, enabling a reduction of 95% in carbon emissions, 30% in water usage, and 20% in energy consumption. The company also intends to conduct a comprehensive life cycle assessment to measure energy savings and reduce Scope 3 emissions in later stages, such as dyeing and yarn spinning.

The first garment made from Kintra’s bio-synthetic material—a jacket—demonstrates its durability and resistance to abrasion and pilling, making it ideal for outerwear. This prototype also highlights the material’s compatibility with existing textile manufacturing and dyeing equipment, ensuring an easy adoption process for brands seeking sustainable materials.
