Italian chemical company Officina39 has introduced ZeroPP|ALL.IN, a sustainable alternative to potassium permanganate, a harmful chemical commonly used in denim finishing.
This new solution was launched in response to findings from the Environmental Impact Measuring (EIM) tool and Clean Clothes Campaign Turkey, which highlighted the serious health and environmental risks posed by potassium permanganate. The EIM has even recommended its complete phase-out in manufacturing processes.
The company described ZeroPP|ALL.IN as both an effective and affordable choice for brands looking to eliminate hazardous substances from their production practices.
They also shared that the product delivers the same vintage effect as potassium permanganate and can be applied to raw denim using either spraying or nebulisation. After this, the fabric undergoes laser finishing followed by dry ozone treatment, eliminating the need for rinsing.
