Oeko-Tex proves to be uninterrupted by the pandemic

Oeko-Tex a Swiss certification authority states that despite the pandemic setback it was able to increase the number of certifications and labels issued by 13% in the past financial year.

In total, the company has issued over 24 thousand certificates or labels out of which the Made in Green by Oeko-Tex label emerges out in popularity to account for over 2,800. Which accounts for a 115% increase.

The Swiss outfit stated that since 1992, Oeko-Tex has stood alongside transparency along with textile and leather production chains, consumer protection and the guarantee of great safety and confidence for all involved. They stated that they understood the importance of the topic in the present situation.

Over 16,000 manufacturers, brands and retailers work with Oeko-Tex, across 100 countries. The company works to certify companies in-line with its standards.

The company’s Made in Green label has registered the highest growth rate in the past 12 months from 1,304 to 2,808. Other labels such as Standard 100 and the Leather Standard by Oeko-Tex continue to grow steadily too.

STeP by Oeko-Tex, a certification system for production facilities with an environmental process that is safe and socially responsible in working conditions, has increased by 55%. Over 470,000 people are currently employed in STeP certified production facilities.

The organization stated that during the challenges faces by the pandemic, they have made efforts to continue their certification and avoid supply chain interruptions. The further stated that existing certificate renewals have been temporarily processed without samples to give certificate owners three additional months to gather samples for testing.

The company continued to state that to provide people all over the world with masks free from harmful substances the Oeko-Tex have made efforts to continue their certification and avoid supply chain interruption. The company added that between April and June over 50 manufacturers have obtained certification for face masks in line with standard 100.

Oeko-Tex has also redesigned its website to make it more user friendly where the customers are now able to access their Label Check feature. They have also increased their presence on social media by launching WeChat services in China.
