Chicago-based Numat Technologies, a producer of metal-organic framework materials (MOFs), has announced a strategic supply partnership with Milliken & Company to create new protective fabric solutions for defence, first responder and industrial use.
By combining Milliken’s advanced textile expertise with Numat’s Sentinel MOF technology platform, the companies aim to develop functional, reactive and self-decontaminating fabrics that offer higher protection, breathability and comfort in demanding environments.
“Our collaboration with Numat is about driving bold innovation with practical benefits,” said Halsey Cook, president and CEO of Milliken. “Together, we are raising the standard for protection—bringing textiles to the market that help save lives and expand what is possible in our industry.”
These MOF-enabled fabrics are PFAS-free and will be produced in the United States. Key users will include chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defence teams and first responders who are seeking safer, non-PFAS alternatives to older protective systems.
“This partnership marks a major step forward in protective fabrics and suits,” said Ben Hernandez, CEO of Numat Technologies. “By combining Numat’s advanced MOF platform with Milliken’s textile expertise and production capacity, we are creating sustainable, high-performance solutions for the people who protect us.”
