Net-A-Porter partners with The Seam to offer repair service

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2023-02-02 18:37:05 – United Kingdom

In collaboration with the garment alterations and repairs company The Seam, the luxury online retail company Yoox Net-A-Porter is launching its first dedicated customer care and repair service.

As the online luxury retailer wants to encourage its consumers to transition towards more sustainable behaviors and minimize wasteful things, the "Repair & Rewear" initiative will include clothes modifications and repairs, bespoke customizations, and care and repair for handbags, footwear, and jewelry.

Customers in the UK can now access the repair service on Net-a-Porter for women's clothing. The online company also said that by spring 2023, it would be available for its male brands Mr. Porter and The Outnet.

The relationship will make use of The Seam's broad network of regional producers throughout the UK and is the company's first-ever engagement in luxury retail. According to the press release from Net-a-Porter, The Seam was chosen because of its "personal approach to maintenance and repair" and the fact that it was assembling a specialized team of craftsmen to cater to its consumers.

According to Net-a-Porter, the "Repair & Rewear" service is exclusively available in the UK. Customers can make reservations at netaporter.theseam.uk. With an express service "subject to availability," the majority of the services on offer will be finished in seven to ten days.

Alison Loehnis, ad interim chief executive at Yoox Net-A-Porter, said that they feel that lovely clothing from previous seasons can serve as a foundation for their clients' future wardrobes. They take pride in providing advice and resources to help these things last. Net-a-Porter, Mr. Porter, and The Outnet are known for selecting the most intriguing luxury fashion. In collaboration with The Seam, their care and repair service is made to guarantee that the items their customers purchase from them can be loved for years to come.

Layla Sargent, founder of The Seam, added that through this relationship, The Seam and its network of specialized Makers would be able to provide sustainable solutions to people on a large scale. They're committed to establishing a sector where participation in a culture of caring is as much a part of the fashion experience as it is about consumption. The Outnet, Mr. Porter, and Net-a-use Porter's of The Seam's technology indicates the commercial possibilities of care and repair and mirrors this objective.

The launch is the latest step in Net-a-Porter, Mr. Porter, and The Outnet's gradual rollout of circularity-related services as the online luxury retail business seeks to strengthen the bond between customers and its offerings. It comes after the company's resale service was expanded, enabling clients to sell used goods from important product categories like ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, accessories, and jewelry.

While Net-a-Porter and The Outnet provide a buy-back service for women's designer handbags, Mr Porter and The Outnet also provide an instant buy-back service for men's sneakers from pre-approved designers. The resale industry is expected to continue to grow in 2023. Reflaunt powers the group's resale services, which are accessible in the US, UK, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, France, and Italy.
