NEFFA
Dutch biotech fashion company NEFFA has successfully concluded its initial seed funding round, marking a significant advancement in sustainable fashion technology. The company’s innovative infrared and enzymatic technologies, along with their 3D manufacturing process utilizing home compostable mushroom roots, aim to substantially reduce the environmental footprint of the fashion industry.
This milestone showcases the support of the Dutch Industrial Biotech Seed Fund, managed by Capricorn Partners, along with contributions from the DOEN Foundation, ROM Utrecht Region, and new partner PDS Ventures. This strategic alliance underscores a collective commitment to fostering eco-friendly advancements in fashion.
NEFFA’s strategy centers on two core technologies: infrared technology for precise material sorting and enzymatic technology for efficient processing and decomposition of raw materials. These innovations offer sustainable alternatives to traditional manufacturing methods, aiming to mitigate the environmental impact of fashion production.
Co-founded by Aniela Hoitink and Nicoline van Enter, NEFFA pioneers MYCOTEX, a 3D manufacturing technique using home compostable mushroom roots and biomaterials. Collaboration with German machine producer DESMA has resulted in successful tests on a robotic production cell, integrating these novel technologies into existing manufacturing processes.
The seed funding infusion propels NEFFA forward, enabling the scaling of its production line to a pilot scale. This expansion aims to enhance the quality and versatility of biomaterials produced, with a vision for broader applications across the fashion industry. NEFFA envisions a sustainable fashion future where environmental considerations are integrated into design and production processes.
