NAFFIC, AWARE launch China-EU DPP for textiles

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-03-30 14:01:00 – China

National Advanced Functional Fibre Innovation Centre (NAFFIC) and AWARE have introduced what they describe as the world’s first China-EU Digital Product Passport (DPP) for a textile product. These passports provide scannable proof of a product’s origin, production process, and environmental impact. This launch is the first to combine Chinese manufacturing with European regulatory requirements.

The first DPP tracks the entire lifecycle of a recycled polyester product. It begins with post-consumer plastic bottles collected in China, which are processed into flakes and spun into yarn by Jiangsu Reborn Eco-Tech. The yarn is then woven into fabric by Wujiang City Chaodai Textiles and later turned into a finished garment by Suzhou Qiandai Life Technology Development for the European brand Iqoniq.

Every stage of the supply chain is recorded on a public blockchain, making the data transparent and verifiable. Consumers, regulators, and brands can access this information by scanning a QR code.

The system combines NAFFIC’s Sustainable Textiles Credible Platform with AWARE’s data tools, including feedstock source declarations and transaction certificates at the raw material stage.
