Lycra to launch Lycra Adaptiv fiber for nonwovens

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-05-14 14:00:13 – Switzerland

The Lycra Company will officially introduce its Lycra Adaptiv fibre for nonwoven applications at INDEX 26. The new stretch fibre technology is already being used by major global apparel brands and is now being expanded into hygiene and personal care products such as baby diapers, disposable hygiene items, adult incontinence products, and feminine care products.

According to the company, Lycra Adaptiv fibre has been developed to address important consumer needs in the hygiene sector, including better fit flexibility, shape retention, comfort during movement, ease of use, and improved stay-in-place performance.

The fibre uses a specialised polymer formula that adjusts to the wearer’s body shape and movement. This provides soft stretch, improved comfort, and a more secure fit, helping reduce the chances of leakage. The technology also supports inclusive sizing by offering a wider fit range and making product changes easier for both users and caregivers. In addition, the reduced pressure from the fabric helps minimise red marks on the skin.

Lycra Adaptiv fibre has also been nominated for an INDEX 2026 Innovation Award in the Raw Material and Component category. The nomination recognises the fibre’s ability to provide a consistent and inclusive experience across a broader size range, helping solve a common industry challenge.
