The process involves sorting, cleaning, shredding, melting, and purifying PET bottles, resulting in fibers combined with 35% cotton to create a versatile fabric. This innovative blend offers the comfort of cotton and the durability of polyester while significantly reducing environmental impact.

Anisha Mukherjee, Head of Procurement & Sustainability lead at Lindström India, highlights the environmental benefits of incorporating recycled polyester, including diverting plastic waste from landfills and reducing the need for virgin polyester production, known for its high energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Recycled polyester textiles produced from this blend yield 30% lower CO₂ emissions compared to virgin polyester materials, using 45% less energy and 20% less water, according to estimates from the Textile Exchange. Additionally, recycling helps prevent plastic bottles from polluting oceans and landfills.
