These upcoming shipments represent Kraig Labs’ first commercial sales and mark an important step in its long development journey.

According to a report, the samples will be sent to three firms, including two sportswear brands and one luxury textile company. The fibers are intended for testing and evaluation before wider use. The quantities will be used for spinning, weaving, dyeing, and real-world performance testing. These steps are standard in the textile industry before a new fiber is approved for large-scale production and commercial use.

Kraig Labs will provide recombinant spider silk fibers that are designed to be strong, elastic, breathable, and biodegradable. These qualities make the material suitable for use in high-performance clothing as well as luxury fashion products.
