Karl Mayer Group installs largest photovoltaic system at headquarters

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-02-23 17:20:38 – Germany

The Karl Mayer Group has installed its largest photovoltaic system to date, boasting a total output of 2.4 MWp at its headquarters in Obertshausen, reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection by focusing on sustainability within its own value chain. This significant investment is projected to enable the generation of over 35% of the site's total electricity consumption, contributing to reduced reliance on external energy sources.

Michael Sustelo, Head of Facility Management at the Karl Mayer Group, underscores the benefits of the investment, emphasizing the extensive planning and coordination involved. The project was executed in collaboration with electricity grid operators, authorities, insurance companies, experts, and the fire brigade.

The implementation of the project began with the construction of a stable substructure, followed by the installation of the first photovoltaic elements on the roof of the assembly hall in Obertshausen on 16 February 2023. Subsequently, other roofs will undergo step-by-step conversion, with approximately 6,000 modules expected to be installed on an area of approximately 12,000 m² by the middle of the year.
