Karl Mayer advances elastic fabrics with new raschel machine

Karl Mayer has introduced its new RE 6 EL raschel machine, offering a modern approach to producing elastic fabrics through a range of newly developed samples. Designed by the company’s textile product development team, these fabrics highlight the machine’s wide design versatility, from lace-inspired textures to woven-like appearances.

The fine filet fabrics showcase Jacquard-style lace effects, including options with sequential patterns. These lightweight materials were developed using two front guide bars to create delicate hole patterns through the EL pattern drive. A denser fabric version presents a strong powernet look with a soft, slightly textured feel. Its high modulus in both length and width makes it well suited for shapewear and corsetry uses.

Another set of patterns was created using a two-needle overlap paired with an unconventional filet threading method. This approach produced a fine, open fabric structure with extremely high width-wise stretch. Symmetrical counterlapping helped maintain a very even and well-balanced fabric appearance.
