Jharkhand govt takes steps to promote ethnic textile, handloom products

The government of Jharkhand, led by Jharkhand Silk Textile and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd (Jharcraft) to promote livelihoods of craft persons in textile and apparel sector to market its ethnic textile and handloom products.

Jharcraft is a government of Jharkhand undertaking formed to initiate steps to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities in the rural areas, based on sericulture, handloom, handicraft and other allied activities.

Government of Jharkhand Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma said that the major benefits of policies of Jharkhand in the textile industry is that the state is offering major incentives for the investors and providing 50 per cent of the rebate for land acquisition tax.

Jharcraft Managing Director K Ravi Kumar said that Jharcraft hopes to provide a platform to the artisans and weavers to merchandise their products, through the maximum utilization of resources and manpower of Jharkhand.

Entrepreneurs from the Jharkhand, India will promote silk, lac, traditional and other handicraft products depicting cultural heritage of the state during the Global Fair 2018, to be held in Dubai.
