Indorama Ventures Public Co. Ltd., one of the world’s leading petrochemical producers and a leading global manufacturer of PET resins, fibers, filaments is planning to add 15,000 tons of extrusion-based fiber spinning capacity to the Auriga Polymers manufacturing site in Spartanburg, S.C. which acquired by Indorama Ventures in 2011.
With this new expansion, Auriga Polymers will be able to produce fibers based on environmentally-friendly polymers such as PLA as well as specialty polyester and post-consumer recycled polymers. For several years Auriga Polymers has been broadening its polyester staple fiber offering to the fast-growing nonwoven fabric industry
Many of these fibers are currently being produced by other manufacturing companies in the Indorama Ventures family. Indorama Ventures is constantly evolving its portfolio and technologies to help their customers grow, said Tom Brekovsky, VP Polymers and Fibers, Auriga Polymers Inc.
This added capacity increases Auriga’s position to support their customers who are seeing growing demand for specialty materials in all sectors of the nonwovens marketplace.
Through the co-location of specialty PET polymers and staple fiber production at their Auriga Polymers Spartanburg site, they are uniquely positioned to tailor their fiber portfolio to customers’ requirements.
Auriga’s staple fibers have been setting a high standard in the US marketplace for many years, and they are very excited about the many possibilities they will be able to offer to customers in the future.
