Hundreds throng KICC to buy textile at first mega sale from EPZ

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre- KICC was the centre of activity on the opening day of the three day mega sale to promote the sale of locally produced products mostly apparel on Wednesday as hundreds of shoppers thronged the ground.

By mid-day most of the manufacturers run out of stock following a huge turn out by Kenyans eager to take advantage of the discounted prices to purchase their favorite designer clothes which have previously been sold to U.S and European markets.

The initiative which is collaboration between the Export Processing Zones – EPZ and the Ministry of Industrialization with a key focus on promoting the sale of Kenyan made products.

Economic Processing Zones in the country are a major economic driver for Kenya, with total investment of Sh74 billion and employing more than 50,000 people, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

There will be subsequent sales in other cities and towns in the country so that Kenyans can see some of the works they are investing in.
