Gymshark-worldwithoutnature
In solidarity with UN World Wildlife Day, British fitness apparel and accessories brand, Gymshark temporarily removed the word “shark” and the sharkhead logo from their website and social media platforms.
Gymshark was one of 330 worldwide corporations and sports teams that joined WWF on Thursday to remove nature from their logos to raise awareness about environmental damage. Dove, Duolingo, and Gorilla Glue were among the other major firms that took part.
Gymshark said in a statement that this World Wildlife Day, they’re joining WWF in eliminating nature from their logo to highlight a #WorldWithoutNature. They stand together to support a better future for all people and nature.
The Gymshark logo may be seen morphing in video recordings shared on LinkedIn and Instagram profiles, with the word “shark” and the sharkhead logo gradually becoming increasingly transparent until they vanish completely.
In 2013, the United Nations designated March 3 as World Wildlife Day, the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora in 1973. It is dedicated to honoring and educating people about the world’s wild creatures and flora.
According to the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), over a million species are threatened with extinction, with 8,400 species of wild wildlife and flora classified as severely endangered.
