W. L. Gore & Associates, the company behind the GORE-TEX brand, has unveiled a series of new material innovations and product updates designed to help apparel manufacturers meet growing consumer demand for versatile outdoor clothing that combines performance, comfort, durability, and sustainability.
The latest additions to the company’s portfolio include WINDSTOPPER Stretch Products by GORE-TEX LABS, an updated version of GORE-TEX PACLITE Products, and new GORE-TEX Laminates made with textile-to-textile recycled face materials. These developments provide licensed GORE-TEX brand partners with expanded options for designing apparel suited to a wide range of outdoor activities and everyday use.
While GORE-TEX Pro garments are engineered for extreme mountain environments, the new materials are designed to address the needs of a broader range of outdoor pursuits, including running, cycling, hiking, and daily wear. Each material technology has been developed to deliver performance characteristics suited to its intended application.
A key sustainability-focused development is the introduction of new GORE-TEX Laminates featuring a recycled polyester face fabric made entirely from industrial textile waste. By utilizing textile-to-textile recycled materials, the company aims to support circularity within the textile industry and reduce dependence on virgin raw materials.
According to Richard Leckenwalter, Consumer Garment Leader at Gore Fabrics, the innovations are part of the company’s fit-for-use approach, which focuses on developing materials based on how consumers actually use products in real-world conditions. He noted that the additions offer brands greater flexibility to create products tailored to specific activities and evolving consumer preferences.
