Gemline collaborates with Aware to enhance supply chain transparency

Aware’s technology aims to help companies like Gemline validate their environmental claims with a digital product passport based on reliable data. They’ve teamed up with MiiR, a company known for its commitment to sustainability and certified as Climate Neutral and a B-Corp. Gemline’s new collection, the MiiR Olympus 2.0, showcases Aware’s technology and features six modern bag styles that prioritize transparency and sustainability.

Gemline’s President and CEO, Frank Carpenito, highlights the importance of this partnership. He sees Aware’s advanced technology as a way to improve transparency in their supply chain and set a new standard for the industry in the United States. This move aligns with Gemline’s focus on making a positive impact on the environment and society.

Aware’s technology is innovative, combining physical and digital elements. It involves embedding a scannable marker into the fiber during manufacturing and creating a digital record on a public blockchain. This approach aims to prevent fraud. MiiR, which uses post-consumer recycled materials and holds Carbon Neutral certification, values strategies that protect the planet and its people.

According to Koen Warmerdam, co-founder and brand director, consumers are interested in knowing the origins of their products, but they also seek complete transparency. Aware’s technology achieves this by revealing the entire supply chain, sourced directly from the origin, making the information highly reliable.

Gemline is proud of its efforts in solar energy generation and being a zero-landfill facility, both reflecting its commitment to reducing environmental impact. The company’s achievements were recognized with a bronze medal from EcoVadis in 2022. In a similar partnership, Calik Denim collaborated with Aware in 2021 to create a fully traceable collection that safeguarded their product certifications.
