Filpucci up with qualities-packed yarns for spring-summer collections 2015

Filpucci, Italy’s key textile player with forty years of creativity, experimentation and innovation in the manufacture of creative yarns for quality knitwear came up with its qualities-packed yarns for spring-summer collections 2015 at the key international trade fair ‘Pitti Filati’ featuring yarns for the knitwear industry, which took place at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, from 22-24 January.

The company’s traditional initial focus on material selection and blends is followed by the major role played by technology and research. All these competencies were channeled into the collection range, the expression of the spirit of spinning, offering a stimulating combination of inspirations and solutions.

Filpucci’s personality‐packed yarns collections are cross‐season and are said to make knitwear with unique qualities: delicate yet with a supple texture, good looking and full of appeal, quiet sophisticated and rustic‐chic, artistic and playful yet stretchy and high‐performance.

Airy yarns with a hollow core, silky weaves of plant fibres, layers of multiple cores, structures that are often rounded, mixed, encapsulated. Their elegant, complex formulas with a smooth, flowing handle mean that even chunkier yarns are worked easily. Then there are several specific procedures to create irregularities, such as slubs for macramé looks, streaks for moiré surfaces, ribbons and tapes skilfully used for a casual‐chic effect.

The variables of these fashion expressions are encapsulated in five trend themes. Thin Coherence, Essential Cotton, Balance Viscose, Rhythmic Stretch, Shining Soul. For each theme there were new yarns presented and for each yarn there was a story of stitches that illustrates their potential and variables.

Ortica yarn was another new yarn which was displayed at the exhibition. Ortica is an emblematic star of the natural/conceptual line, an ultramodern yarn that pays homage to the ancient textile art. Made from the ancient, self‐sowing plant known for its medicinal properties and with a hollow fibre similar to linen, the nettle is said to have heat‐regulating qualities and is 100% biodegradable. Cool and shiny as silk, ultra‐fine and strong, the Ortica yarn is twisted with a nylon filament to increase the fibre’s natural strength.

Prestige is an icon of sublime luxury, the perfection of silk in an extreme gauge. A very light stretch effect softens the surface with its glossiness. Birbante has a creative, zesty structure. This skillfully twisted and worked pure cotton yarn has pear‐shaped slubs scattered along its length. The effect achieved by simple machine‐knitting is of macramé‐like lace, wavy and pattern creating.

Segreto is a yarn‐dyed stretchy laminated yarn. Viscose covers the lamé, allowing radiant glints to shimmer through with a charming effect of irregularly scattered dots. Stellato grabs the attention with crystal reflections. Ultra‐fine viscose envelops ultra‐light polyester with crystal effects and through multiple twisting and other processes becomes a fine, luminous yarn that reflects the prismatic refraction of light.

Filpucci yarns have an identity all their own. From the traditional handknitting-style heavy yarns to infinitesimally fine state-of-the-art yarns,
With 102 brands and an exhibition area of 20,000 square metres, Pitti Filati previewed yarn collections for the 2015 Spring-Summer season with the whole story being told through a playful, fun-filled and entertaining setting that guides visitors in original ways through the multiple links between fashion, art, sport, design and music.
