YarnProof
Ten polyester filament yarn manufacturers across North and Central America have launched YarnProof, an origin verification system powered by FibreTrace technology. The system enables brands, manufacturers and regulators to physically verify the origin of polyester filament yarn produced in the region.
It uses an invisible tracer embedded directly into the yarn during extrusion, allowing the material to be identified as it moves through the supply chain and into finished products. Authorised users can verify materials in real time using a FibreTrace handheld scanner, which detects the tracer in products ranging from yarn to finished garments. Each scan generates a verification record linking the physical material to supporting production and sourcing information.
The system is intended to strengthen supply-chain traceability and support compliance with regional trade requirements, including the yarn-forward rules under the Dominican Republic–Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). These provisions require qualifying textiles and apparel to meet specified regional origin criteria to access preferential trade terms.
