Exhibition Ensō the language of printmaker kicks off in Delhi

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2015-09-24 17:00:00 – Delhi

An exhibition of hand printed and digitally printed textile and clothing, Ensō, the Language of a Printmaker, kicked off in the capital of India. The exhibition includes saris, stoles, wall hangings, artwork and contemporary clothing, in natural fabrics such as silk, linen and cotton.

Ensō is Delhi-based printmaker Dhvani Behl’s first solo exhibition in the city. Behl, a graduate in printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design, runs the artist printing studio Flora for Fauna or FFF and experiments with the techniques of hand embroidery, woodcut and silkscreen printing on fabrics, as well as stone inlay, and machine knitting.

Nature has been a constant inspiration and theme behind his work. ‘Pattern’, to him, embodies all the beauty one sees in life. So, he creates in pattern, the best translation he perceive of nature. ‘Ensō’ is his expression of how he sees and feels the world around him, said Behl.

As a first step to anything that goes into print, drawing is the most inspiring part. This show is a printmaker’s journey from a drawing to the textile and further. It is an expression of how far a drawing can go and a defining sense of art.

Ensō is on at Galerie Romain Roland, Alliance Francaise, New Delhi, from September 24 – 27, 2015, 11 am to 8 pm.
