In a major milestone, Seiko Epson Corporation has opened its first ink tank printer manufacturing facility in Chennai. Built in partnership with Epson’s manufacturing partner, RIKUN, the new plant represents Epson’s focus on local production and environmentally conscious innovation.
Mr. Junkichi Yoshida, Global President of Seiko Epson Corporation, expressed gratitude to the teams from Epson India, RIKUN, and Seiko Epson Corporation for bringing the project to life. “This is a landmark moment for Epson,” he said. “India is vital to our growth, offering huge potential through its expanding economy, young population, and digital advancement.”
This Chennai facility is Epson’s first production investment in India and is expected to start operations in October 2025. It will initially focus on manufacturing Epson’s popular EcoTank printers, a cartridge-free, high-capacity printing solution that lowers both cost and environmental impact.
Mr. Samba Moorthy, President of Epson India, highlighted the importance of the new facility, calling it a major step in Epson India’s growth journey. “This facility showcases our strong commitment to innovation and long-term presence in India. By producing locally, we can serve our customers more efficiently and support the vision of a self-sufficient, sustainable manufacturing ecosystem.”
Mr. Yoshida further noted that this initiative supports the Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign and aligns with Epson’s aim to strengthen local manufacturing, improve supply chain flexibility, and support India’s economic growth.
