Ebay UK has partnered with pre-owned clothes repair and resale experts Reskinned in an effort to increase the selection of pre-owned items on its marketplace.

The business collects used clothes from customers and refurbishes it for resale, repurposing, or recycling. It presently partners with over 30 companies, including River Island and Joules.

The collaboration comes as Ebay works to diversify the pre-owned apparel section of its store by adding more goods that have been fixed up and are suitable for resale.

Along with the agreement, Reskinned will also have a "brand-approved" shop on the marketplace.

Ebay’s head of fashion, Jemma Todd, said that pairing Ebay's reach to conscious customers, with Reskinned's expertise in garment repair, resale and recycling will help extend the lifecycle of products, reduce waste and showcase the variety of routes into a kinder way to shop for the shopper's wallet and the planet.

The news was made at the same time that Ebay released its 2022 Recommerce Report, which revealed that over half of its customers identified both financial and environmental considerations as the primary reasons for purchasing at consignment stores.

In an effort to cater to consumers searching for a "kinder way to purchase," the marketplace said that its relationship with Reskinned will enhance its trash reduction efforts.
