Dyers want govt to identify 100 acres land for setting up textile park with CETP

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2015-12-26 14:00:00 – Tamil Nadu

Chairman of Salem Yarn Colouring Park Private Limited, A Alagesan, in a petition sent to the Chief Minister stated that dyers have been facing effluent related problems and set up CETP is the only solution. Hence, the members involved in yarn colouring demands 100 acres for establishing an integrated textile processing park with Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) here.

If the park with CETP is established it would not only provide direct employment to 3,000 workers apart from indirect jobs to 15,500 workers.

But around 60 to 70 tonnes of materials can be processed everyday in the park. Also, transactions worth Rs. 1,500 crore would happen every month if the park is established, the petition said.

It said that Salem is located in the heart of the State and reaching nearby cities and important places in other States is easy due to road connectivity. Also the Tuticorin Port is located about 355 km from Salem while the distance to Chennai Port is 341 km.

Movement of finished products will also easy and cost-effective.

The petition said that it wanted the government to identify land for establishing the park as efforts by them to identify land for setting up the park did not yield results.
