Deven Supercriticals unveils waterless dyeing technology

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-01-13 14:18:16 – India

Deven Supercriticals has unveiled the commercial-scale operation of SUPRAUNO, marking a major milestone in the transition toward sustainable textile dyeing. Unlike pilot-stage demonstrations common in the sector, this showcase offered full visibility into actual industrial machinery, live process flow and real-time fabric dyeing, underlining that the technology is already operational at scale.

At the core of SUPRAUNO is the use of supercritical COâ‚‚ as the dyeing medium, completely eliminating the need for water in both dyeing and finishing processes. Crucially for mills, the patented system is compatible with conventional dyes and existing trichrome recipes, allowing adoption without altering current dye chemistry or reformulating colour libraries.

The technology is designed to be fiber-agnostic, working effectively across cotton, polyester, nylon, viscose, linen, wool, acrylic and blended fabrics, making it suitable for a broad spectrum of textile applications.

SUPRAUNO delivers significant environmental and operational benefits. In cotton dyeing, it removes the need for salt, while for polyester it eliminates reduction clearing, simplifying post-dyeing processes. Improved dye uptake reduces shade variability, while auxiliary chemical consumption drops by up to 90 percent, dramatically lowering effluent treatment plant (ETP) loads.
