Crystal International unveils its net zero 2050 vision

Crystal International, based in Hong Kong, has unveiled its Net Zero 2050 objective, a long-term climate commitment that recognizes its ongoing net-zero projects.

Crystal International is stepping up its long-term sustainability commitment to be in line with climate science to prevent global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius with the unveiling of the new Crystal Net Zero 2050 Vision. In addition, the corporation has set an interim goal of lowering aggregate greenhouse gas emissions by 35 percent by 2030, in line with science-based targets, and has submitted its net-zero commitment to Science-Based Targets projects (SBTi).

Since 2007, manufacturing behemoth Crystal International Group has led the charge for sustainability in the garment business, launching its five-year Sustainability Targets, which are currently in their third cycle. The company claims that it has been driving factories and supply chains to decarbonize for the past 15 years in order to help and revitalize the planet, and that as a result of such efforts, its carbon footprint per product has decreased by 40% since 2007.

Andrew Lo, chief executive officer of Crystal International said that the challenges are enormous, but they have an opportunity to preserve the world by altering the way they operate and interact. They support collaborative efforts to combat climate change, and they hope that more experts, industry peers, and other stakeholders with similar climate views would join them in setting high goals in their respective areas to assist carbon reduction.

Crystal International claims it is incorporating net-zero practices into daily operations, ramping up decarbonization actions, and formulating a net-zero strategy and roadmap, which includes improving productivity and energy efficiency, increasing on-site renewable energy use, and exploring opportunities for both off-site renewable energy resources and new green technologies. According to the company, each Crystal factory will have its own carbon reduction objective and particular decarbonization procedures to meet the climate targets on a timeframe.

Crystal International, which was founded in Hong Kong in 1970, offers a diverse product range divided into five product segments: Lifestyle wear, Denim, Intimate, Sweater, and Sportswear and outdoor apparel, all of which have leadership positions in their respective categories. The Group, which is headquartered in Hong Kong, maintains a multi-country manufacturing platform with around 18 production facilities spread across five countries: Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

To mark the start of this milestone and demonstrate its motivation, Crystal International will unveil a sneak peek of its multi-faceted communications next month, which will include a promotional video and thematic webpage, as well as various labels and recognition related to net-zero that are currently being developed.

Crystal International said it will continue to collaborate with customers, suppliers, and other supply chain partners to accelerate the transition to a net-zero fashion future.
