Coyuchi recruits experts to form Coyuchi Climate Council

Organic cotton bedding and apparel company, Coyuchi, announced the formation of The Coyuchi Climate Council, a council of leaders from fashion, regenerative agriculture, and sustainability.

Coyuchi aims that by forming this group of experts, it will be able to bring together outstanding minds with the expertise and experience needed to reach its most recent climate goals: Net Zero Emissions by 2025 and Net Positive Emissions by 2030.

The Coyuchi Climate Council comprises Cara Chacon, Founder & Principal Consultant, Intentum Corporate Responsibility Consulting (formerly Patagonia); Steve Finkel, Founder & President, White Buffalo Land Trust; Jeff Hogue, Levi’s chief sustainability officer; and Amanda Cattermole, Founder of Cattermole Consulting Inc.

According to the company, they were chosen because of their experience in five important areas: regenerative agriculture, greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and offsets, environmental social governance (ESG), textile chemistry, and Circular Systems.

Eileen Mockus, CEO & President of Coyuchi, said that Coyuchi’s pursuit of sustainable innovation was never possible in a silo. They cannot work alone due to the complexities of the textile supply chain, and when they launched their first circular product in 2020, they recognized the true value of their network in the fight against climate change. This small but powerful group of leaders was carefully chosen for their deep-rooted expertise across industries, and he is confident they will push Coyuchi to be innovative and aggressive in attaining its goals.

Coyuchi has also produced its first annual Impact Report, which gives indicators for the company’s sustainable accomplishments beginning in 2020, as well as a description of the company’s new climate targets and a roadmap for how it expects to reach them.

Aside from environmental metrics, Coyuchi’s 2020 Impact Report emphasizes the crucial relevance of diversity and charitable actions that promote a fair and equal society.
