Covation Biomaterials launches as individual business

Following the Huafon Group’s acquisition of DuPont Biomaterials, Covation Biomaterials, a global company offering bio-based solutions, is launched as an independent business.

Covation Biomaterials is producing the sustainable building blocks for customers to make innovative and high-performance bio-based products available globally, proudly integrating decades of world-class research and engineering knowledge with fresh investment and production capabilities.

Michael Saltzberg, CEO – Covation Biomaterials, said that they’re an important entryway into a more circular economy as a provider of bio-based materials solutions. Sustainable supply chains start with sustainable materials, and their technology helps their clients to reduce their dependency on petroleum.

The new company builds on a decades-long legacy and a successful suite of products currently on the market, including Sorona®, a partially bio-based polymer that responds to the global demand for sustainably sourced carpets and fabrics, bridging the personal and societal at a critical juncture in our environmental stewardship. Sorona® is suitable for making stylish, high-performance clothing and soft, long-lasting carpets.

Susterra® is a high-performance, plant-based building block that minimizes the requirement for petroleum-based components while improving end-product characteristics. Its products include Zemea®, a plant-based and biodegradable material that enables companies to achieve sustainability goals without sacrificing quality or performance. Zemea®, which is available in a number of formulations, satisfies stringent requirements in a wide range of high-volume sectors, including personal care and home care, medicines, and taste and food enhancement.
