Cotton ginneries in Pakistan got around 12.88 mn bales by mid Jan

Pakistan Cotton Ginneries managed to get around 1,28,82,963 cotton bales by January 15th, 2014, an increase of 7.16 percent against the last year figure of 1,20,22,040 bales, as per the fortnightly report on cotton arrivals by Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA)

The PCGA chairman Mukhtar Ahmed Khan Baloch said that 1,10,16,89 11.016 cotton bales were sold to the textile units, while exporters were sold 3,38,538 bales. Thus, overall 11.354 million bales were traded so far.

The data shows total cotton arrivals increasing by 5.01 percent year-on-year to 91,62,783 bales in Punjab province, and by 12.87 percent year-on-year to 37,20,180 bales in Sindh province and Balochistan 63,048 bales. After the total trading of 1,13,54,627 bales, the ginners are left with 15,28,336 bales available as unsold stock.

A total 263 out of 1200 ginning factories are operational in Sindh and Punjab.

District wise cotton arrival in Punjab: Multan 4,76,249 , bales 16.71 percent more than last year, Lodhran 3,49,912 bales 38.94% increase, Khanewal 9.08,928, showing an increase of 2.28%, Muzaffargarh 4,01,517 bales 5.44 percent decrease, Dera Ghazi Khan 3,92,177 bales showed an increase of 18.74 percent, Rajanpur 4,11,425 bales showing an increase of 1.59 percent. Layyah 2,75,917 bales 18.92 percent more than last year, Vehari 8,48,395 bales 1.27 percent decrease, Sahiwal 5,10,350 bales decreased by 7.87 percent, Pakpattan 1,71,166 showing 29.43 percent less than preceding year, Okara 45,200 showing a decrease of 19.38 percent, Kasur 28,386 bales, Toba Tek Singh, 2,23,809 bales, Faisalabad 63,043, Jhang 1,17,100, Mianwali 2,88,486 bales, Bhakkar 1,76,209 showing a decrease of 3.45, Sargodha 37,150 ,RahimyarKhan ,11,60,801, Bahawalpur 10,47,319 and Bahawalnagar 12,29,244 bales. District wise cotton arrival in Sindh, Hyderabad 2,99,110 bales showing an increase of 20.37 percent, Mirpur Khas 3,61,665, showing decrease by 9.24 percent.

Sangarh 13,90,637 Nawabshah 2,91,264 Naushero Feroze 2,48,462, Khairpur 2,37,530 Ghotki 2,01,566, Sukkur, 3,50,594, Jamshoro 1,87,279, Badin 53,525 and Balochistan 63,048 bales.

The cotton trading remained firm amid strong demand by mills and spinners. Since the textile mills have increased the buying of cotton to meet the demand of European Market after attaining the status of GSP-Plus, the rates are going up.
