Calik Denim
Turkish denim mill Calik Denim recently showcased its commitment to transforming the denim supply chain at the 3rd Annual Meeting of the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network. The event aimed to foster transparent, inclusive, and transformative engagement among global fashion stakeholders to drive urgent sustainability action.
At the meeting, Rukiye Kuzu, Calik Denim’s marketing executive, highlighted the company’s responsible production model and eco-friendly innovations like the biodegradable B210 technology. Launched in 2022, B210 combines unique yarn technology with a special finishing process, enabling synthetic fibers to biodegrade in 210 days and eliminating textile waste. This non-toxic process is applicable to all of Calik’s stretch fabrics.
Kuzu also outlined Calik Denim’s sustainability vision and strategy, emphasizing investments in regenerative agriculture and eco-industrial projects that feature collections using regenerative cotton. She noted that the Fall/Winter 24-25 collection incorporates Regenagri-certified regenerative cotton and that Calik plans to expand this content in future collections. The company’s participation as a 2024 thought partner of the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network underscores its commitment to sustainable development.
