Bumberry
Kochi-based Bumberry Cloth Diapering Company has unveiled eco-friendly and reusable cloth diapers for infants in an effort to combat environmental damage caused by disposable baby diapers. The company aims to influence consumer preferences by promoting sustainable and eco-friendly parenting practices, envisioning a reduction in waste generated by disposable diapers.
Catering to the Indian mass market, Bumberry has introduced “smart nappies” priced at ₹200 each, designed for over 200 uses. These cloth diapers are crafted from absorbent microfiber fabric, offering comfort for babies while significantly decreasing non-biodegradable waste.
Kuttikrishnan P C, Founder and Director of Bumberry, emphasizes the company’s commitment to leading a movement on modern cloth diapering among Indian parents, encouraging smarter choices in baby diaper purchases. He highlights the company’s mission to educate parents about the thoughtful selection of diapers, prioritizing the baby’s well-being over mere convenience.
While promoting cloth diapers, manufacturers encounter challenges such as dispelling misconceptions, addressing higher upfront costs compared to disposables, and managing a reliable supply chain for materials. Bumberry tackled these issues by participating in the Walmart Vriddhi programme, collaborating with MSME to navigate hurdles caused by Covid. This strategic guidance enhanced digital literacy and e-commerce platforms, allowing Bumberry to establish a strong online presence and attract a growing customer base.
