To strengthen bilateral relations in the textile sector between India and Bangladesh, the officials of the two countries will be meeting later this month. The meeting turned up a memorandum of understanding (MoU) is a major trade facilitation mechanism on Textile Sector collaboration signed between the two neighbouring countries in August, 2013 when Abdul Latif Siddique, the then minister for Textiles and Jute of Bangladesh, visited New Delhi at the invitation of KS Rao, minister of Textiles of India.
The first meeting of the joint working group for textile cooperation will be held in Dhaka to promote collaboration in various areas of the textile sector such as Fashion Technology, Skill Exchange and Productivity Enhancement; Collaboration for Upgrading and Enhancing Production Efficiency, Management Techniques, Training, R&D etc; Technical Collaboration in Development of Textiles, etc, between the two countries.
In meeting, the continuation of the mandate of the International Jute Study Group will also be taken up for discussion.
A joint working group on textiles has been formed as a mechanism for speedy implementation of the MoU, the Indian High Commission said in a statement yesterday. The joint working group would work to develop collaborations between the textile institutions of the two countries.
