Bangladesh and Nepal preparing to sign new bilateral trade agreement

Nepal Expo 2015, a five days event organized by Synthesis Exhibition and Events and Wren, a business networking company of Bangladesh to mark the 43rd year of bilateral trade relationship between Nepal and Bangladesh began from Wednesday at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall.

Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Sunil Bahadur Thapa inaugurating the expo, said that government is preparing to sign a new bilateral trade agreement with Bangladesh. The markets in Nepal and Bangladesh are more or less similar, thus this expo will be beneficial for traders of both the countries. The Expo plays a crucial role in exploring business opportunities between Nepal and Bangladesh.

Similarly, Mashfee Binte Shams, ambassador of the People´s Republic of Bangladesh to Nepal, said that the expo helps business community of Nepal to learn about wide variety of products of Bangladesh and create an opportunity for business community to explore available synergies for enhancing relation between the two nations. The event will also help to increase exports from Bangladesh to Nepal.

According to the organizers, more than 80 leading business houses from Bangladesh are participating in the expo, representing various sectors like readymade garments, handicrafts, textiles, food, frozen sea foods, ceramic products, beverages, cosmetics, herbal products, information technology firms, education institutions, medical colleges, and hospitality sector, among others.

Bangladeshi services and products have been displayed in more than 100 stalls.
