Austrian firm Lenzing tops Canopy’s Hot Button Ranking

The Lenzing Group, the top provider of specialty fibers produced responsibly in the world, came in first place on the “Hot Button Ranking” of the Canadian non-profit Canopy, reiterating its position as a global leader in sustainability and ethical sourcing of wood and pulp. Lenzing can also rejoice once more in wearing a dark green shirt, which is representative of the highest category.

In this ranking, which is highly regarded in the textile and apparel industries, Canopy assesses the 34 largest cellulosic fiber producers in the world based on their efforts to source sustainable wood and pulp, their use of alternative raw materials, and their success in preserving old-growth and endangered forests. The foundation of Lenzing’s innovation drive and a fundamental component of its corporate strategy is resource preservation. These ideas serve as the foundation for the sustainable manufacture of specialized fibers bearing the TENCEL™, VEOCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ brands.

Robert van de Kerkhof, Chief Commercial Officer Fiber of the Lenzing Group, said that they are very delighted that the actions they are doing as the Lenzing Group to continuously improve and discover solutions to the most important problems of their time are being seen and honored. They are putting a lot of effort into advancing the circular business model for textiles and making their industries even more sustainable. This transition requires further work from the entire sector.

The most crucial raw ingredients for the sustainable production of cellulosic fibers from Lenzing are wood and the pulp made from it. The Lenzing Group takes accountability for its actions by working toward environmentally conscious purchasing practices based on environmental certifications and effective use of these priceless resources. Lenzing does not use wood from old, protected, or endangered forests when sourcing its dissolving pulp and wood from plantations and forests that are sustainably managed.
