Archroma
Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals for sustainable solutions, is set to showcase its latest innovations for the denim industry. The company will participate in the Sustainability Talks event in Istanbul, Turkey, and the Denim Première Vision in Milan, Italy, next month.
Archroma will spotlight its groundbreaking DENIM HALO pretreatment and dyeing process, designed to create laser-friendly and easily washable denim. Additionally, it will collaborate with partners Kipaş Denim and Jeanologia to launch a joint hangtag for the upcoming Kipaş Denim Contra Denim collection, built around the DENIM HALO concept.
“Denim remains a dynamic and inspiring market segment, with brands and mills striving for sustainability and innovative aesthetics that give consumers the classic denim look in an eco-friendlier way,” said Umberto De Vita, Market Segment Director – Denim at Archroma. “Our PLANET CONSCIOUS+ strategy drives us to develop solutions that help customers transition to cleaner chemistries and resource-saving processes while enhancing productivity and competitiveness.”
The DENIM HALO process combines Archroma’s innovative DIRSOL RD pretreatment with its unique DENISOL indigo dyes, including an aniline-free version, or DIRESUL sulfur-based dyestuffs like black, blue, or other colors. This results in a ring-dyeing effect that produces laser-friendly denim, ideal for creating worn or distressed washdown effects. The process also minimizes yarn shrinkage and enhances garment strength.
This advanced process significantly reduces the environmental impact compared to conventional denim finishing methods. It eliminates practices like manual hand scraping and potassium permanganate spraying. Additionally, it lowers caustic soda use during sulfur dyeing, reducing wastewater pollution and improving weaving efficiency.
