Andritz to supply textile recycling equipment for Renewcell’s new plant

Renewcell, a textile-to-textile recycling company based in Sweden has placed an order with Austrian company, Andritz to supply textile recycling equipment for their new recycling plant in Sundsvall, Sweden which is expected to be operational in the first half of 2022.

The new recycling system will rely heavily on Andritz ADuro shredders, which shred old textiles in a single shredding process. The ADuro shredders cut the incoming material uniformly and neatly while allowing for a high throughput due to their unique features.

During the ensuing separation procedures, contaminants such as buttons and zippers will be removed from the shredded textiles. Renewcell uses this pre-treated material to make a pure, natural dissolving pulp made completely of recycled textiles.

In addition, the scope of supply includes further important equipment. Thanks to cutting-edge Andritz technology, the new recycling plant can handle up to 60,000 tonnes of old textiles each year.

Renewcell, a textile recycling company located in Stockholm, Sweden, was founded in 2012. Renewcell’s recycling method dissolves old cotton and other cellulose fibers to create Circulose® pulp, which is then used to make biodegradable virgin grade viscose or lyocell textile fibers for the fashion sector.
