Ahlstrom presents nonwoven innovation, BioProtect

Ahlstrom has been selected as a finalist in the IDEA 2025 Awards in the Nonwoven Product category for its BioProtect laundry care solution. This biodegradable and biobased product, developed over years of research, is made from cellulosic fibers combined with OrganoClick’s OC-BioBinder.

BioProtect is designed to prevent color bleeding during laundry, ensuring clothes remain vibrant. It is certified biobased, biodegradable according to ISO14855-1, and home compostable. Manufactured using wetlaid technology, it delivers high performance with excellent dye-catching properties, strong wet strength, and superior absorption.

“Our high-performance solution provides exceptional dye-catching capabilities, effectively preventing color runs while meeting industry standards,” said Pierre Mary, Vice President of Nonwovens at Ahlstrom.

“We are excited to see our biobinders being used in innovative applications that require durability in demanding conditions,” said Mårten Hellberg, CEO of OrganoClick. “This reinforces our commitment to replacing plastics and creating truly sustainable products from the inside out.”
