Nylon yarn price jumps amid rising raw material cost

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2016-11-22 05:08:42 –

In China, FDY70D/24F SD prices were up US cents 1-5 a kg in the second week of November while FDY40D were raised US cents 5 a kg on the week. DTY 70D/24F prices remained flat while 30D/10F rolled over during the week.

Monofilament 30D prices were flat in Yuan terms but down US cents 2 a kg during the week, while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices rose US cents 3 a kg on the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices picked up given the rise in nylon chip and caprolactum prices and in turn, operation was at breakeven. Major producers pushed up offers and small?sized makers held intentions to hike prices.

Nylon yarn makers run at high run rates and thus supply increased which weighed on market prices. With slack season ending, converters made some replenishment and followed up. Otherwise, supply/demand fundamentals are balanced with some procurement from the downstream.
