Nylon prices flat in Asia, demand remains poor

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2016-07-19 06:16:00 –

In China, nylon filament prices were down US cents 1-2 a kg in the first week of July due to weaker currency. Semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices were flat while FDY40D were stable during the week. Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices remained unchanged while 30D/10F were steady on the week. Nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices rolled over while monofilament 30D prices were down US cents 6 a kg on the upper-end.

Nylon filament yarn prices were flat on the week supported by rising raw material cost. However, demand remained poor and hard to improve. With cautious operation intentions and weak buying interest, sales and production were under pressure amid off season.

Warp?knitting, weaving and AJ covering sector witnessed moderate liquidity and operated at 65%, while, circular?knitting mills and lacing mills reduced operating rate to 40%. As a result, nylon yarn makers faced resistance to any hike in prices.
